A glistening trail betrays the snail
Scaling the doorstep, cold and moist
A dry crack, then soft undertones
Follow the second small shoe's hoist

Early childhood's thoughtlessness
The source of mature heart's sore
Rooted in elytra's crispy crunch
And daddy long-legs being torn

Creations unrecorded
Sand scoop thumps, thumbs squish
Nullifying with delight
Silvery belly up, lubberly caught fish

Zero gravity in a rusty, rain-filled tub
Encircled by grass too wet to mow
A grasshopper playing Moon-like Sonata
Watery Grave or Larghissimo

The locust overcame surface tension
A helping hand pushed down with its yet-to-grow palm
Then buoyancy to scatter mosquito larvae
Thrusts up the chitinous armour, needless to embalm

Maybe revealing omnipotence
As the size relativity's cruelest friend
Sizing up the starry heaven above
I came to fear my own violent end

Now I jump over the squirming earthworms
Fleshy and flushed out on callous rainy days
And pick up the glossy blue dung beetles
Moving them off the path, out of harm's way.
